Commencement 2007 The weekend of May 19 and 20 was a time to celebrate on the Binghamton University campus. More than 4,000 men and women graduated with bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. Philanthropist, teacher, accountant, investment advisor and Binghamton University volunteer Allan R. Lyons '62 received an honorary degree at the Commencement ceremony for the professional schools. Political scientist J. David Singer received an honorary degree and spoke at the Commencement ceremony for Harpur College. According to a survey of graduating seniors conducted by the University's Career Development Center, more than one-third of the Class of 2007 expects to attend graduate or professional school. The survey also says that more than half of the graduating class is headed directly for the workforce, with 14 percent of class members having already accepted jobs.
