Graduate School Deadlines for Degree Completion

The deadlines for depositing theses/dissertations and for filing all Recommendations to Award degree paperwork with the Graduate School are established as shown below. If these deadlines are not met, students must register in the next semester and receive their degrees at the end of that semester.

Compliance with the Declaration of Candidacy dates is strongly recommended to allow for timely completion of degree paperwork by the Graduate School and individual programs.

  • Summer Semesters: 6 working days before conferral of degrees;
  • Fall Semesters: 6 working days before conferral of degrees;
  • Spring Semesters: Dissertations/Thesis: 10 working days before Commencement;
  • Spring Semesters: Recommendation Forms: 6 working days before Commencement

Declaration of Candidacy form February 22
All students expecting to graduate check with program to determine graduation status May 2
Recommended date for submission of thesis/dissertation in acceptable form May 5
Deadline for submission of thesis/dissertation in acceptable form May 9
Deadline for submission of Recommendation for Award of Degree form by departments May 9
  Diploma conferral date : May 18, 2008
  Spring Commencement Ceremony: SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2008

All students expecting to graduate check with program to determine graduation status August 1
Recommended date for submission of thesis/dissertation in acceptable form August 4

Deadline for submission of Recommendation for Award of Degree form by departments August 8
  Diploma conferral date : August 15, 2008


Fall 2008 Deadlines

All students expecting to graduate check with program to determine graduation status November 24
Recommended date for submission of thesis/dissertation in acceptable form December 1
Deadline for submission of thesis/dissertation in acceptable form December 4
