You should plan to park initially in lot M, the large lot at the upper right on the campus map. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early.

    Registering Your Car:

You will receive information regarding parking fees and campus vehicle registration in a separate mailing. When you arrive on campus for orientation, you should stop at the information booth on the main entrance drive and purchase a permit, either for one day's parking or for the annual period you have chosen. You can register your car at Parking Services (AD-G35) open 9:00 - 4:00, or at the Information Booth, open 8:00 - 4:00. Credit cards may be used in either location. The cost to register your car for one semester is $71 (subject to change without prior notice). Full-time and part-time students who wish to park on campus must register and pay parking fees. If you have been appointed to a Teaching or Graduate Assistantship position, you may be eligible for reduced rates; talk to Parking Services at the time you purchase your pass.

    Establish Your Binghamton Email Account

You can set up your Binghamton email account prior to arriving on campus

    ID Cards

You can get your university ID Monday - Friday from 9:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. in the Registrar's Office, SW-119.

    Mandatory Health Forms

You should have already received health forms and information about health insurance and fees in a separate mailing. Please read these materials carefully. Health forms are necessary; State legislation requires students to show proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella, and to acknowledge receipt of information about Meningitis. The University Health Service must receive your completed health forms before you may become eligible to register for classes.

Staff from the University Health Service are available to discuss your health concerns in private consultation. Since these discussions require both time and privacy, you may wish to make a separate visit to talk with the staff if your health concerns are extensive. Health Service staff will be available to meet with new graduate students during the first weeks of the semester.

Click here for more details on the health requirements.

    Student Tuition and Fees

All students must pay their semester bill in full by the due date of August 16, 2006, or they are assessed a $30 administrative fee. You may pay online through the BUSI system. Student Accounts administers a Time Payment Plan that may be of interest; in cases of exceptional hardship they can also make arrangements to defer payment. Please make your payments on time - this can save you time and money later on. Funded students, please note that although tuition scholarships cover the cost of tuition for graduate courses, they do not cover fees.

    Especially for Students on Payroll

Before being placed on any payroll at Binghamton University, the US Department of Homeland Security requires proof of citizenship and employment eligibility. If you will be working on campus, you must complete an I-9 form (available on line). If you can visit the University early to complete the I-9, this will speed up the processing of your first paycheck. Please check the "Lists of Acceptable Documents" and bring the right ones to Binghamton.

If you are a new TA or GA, please visit the Human Resources Office as soon as possible after you arrive on campus to complete the I-9 process and complete other employment paperwork.

    Academic Advising

During the first week of classes or before, meet with your faculty advisor or program director to discuss career aspirations, course curriculum, pre-requisites, and other program requirements for new students. Continuing Education Students must determine course availability and receive permission of instructor before registering.

Academic Honesty Policy and Rules of Student Conduct

In order to enroll in classes, all new graduate students must carefully read and formally agree to adhere to Binghamton University's "Academic Honesty Policy" and "Rules of Student Conduct". These can be found at: http://busi.binghamton.edu
